Cystoscopy

A cystoscopy is a procedure that allows your doctor to look at the lining of your bladder as well as examine the tube that carries urine out of your body, also known as your urethra.  A small, hollow tube known as a cystoscope equipped with a lens is inserted into your urethra and slowly advanced into your bladder.  Your bladder will be filled with a sterile solution, which inflates your bladder and allows your doctor to get a better view of the inside of your bladder.  The procedure usually takes between 5-15 minutes and is done in the office.
